The boy is back to making records, his seventh solo, the first since 2001
and invited to her party Slash, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Ian Mc Lagan and the masters of country and soul Kris Kristofferson and Bobby Womack. He never did memorable discs Ron Wood and even that it is but there is an honesty in his music that contrasts with his being a rock star, with his dissipated life and glamorous, with his media overexposure. And 'that love for the original rock n' roll, blues and roots to the passion that animates the soul of his songs and his music and translates into a cheerful representation of how the rock 'was invented and brought to success the Faces the Stones. A disk of Wood is not so different from one of the Stones, only missing the band and how to remove the cheese from the carbonara. Missing quid which makes it unique and original the pot even if, as accade qui, il menù non è certo scadente, anzi si lascia gustare con estremo piacere, non è una cosa da grandi chef parigini ma se la trattoria è questa ci torno anche domani.
I Feel Like Playing è divertente e onesto, un disco da corsaro del rock con tutto quello che comporta in termini di it’s only rock n’roll but we like it . Basta accontentarsi di divertirsi, ballare, sorridere e qualche volte pensare, come accade nella bellissima ballata iniziale Why You Wanna Go and Do A Thing Like That For una ballata romantica e crepuscolare, cantata alla Dylan e suonata come facevano gli Stones in Tattoo You , una ballata che scivola addosso sulla pelle e scalda as the southern sun. There are more ballads on the disc but this is really super, stuff that not even the Stones are more. But over the heart is the villain and bully Ron Wood to take the counter, to a Thing About You rockaccio some 'glam chosen as the single or the reggae flavored Sweetness My Weakness , imitation of Keith Richards of Jamaica or Lucky Man another bigwig to blues and even a funky syncopated Spoonful and the more traditional I Gotta See that is nothing but a transposition of I Got The Blues Rolling Stones. The hot end with the sarabande power of 100%, dotted veins blues harmonica and the sounds of hot acids Fancy Pants mixture of Pearl Jam and BoDiddley before the romantic road movie Tell Me Something that closes the album with a nice guitar solo. Twelve tracks of
I Feel Like Playing each with a different and fun and Ron Wood with a pair of ballads that closely resemble the Peter Wolf Midnight Souvenirs. The cover artwork is Wood's own.
One of those hard facts to fit in the car and drive content even thinking about that big nose in that improbable haircut and that nice face slaps Ronnie that is, a pirate rock n'roll ancora in circolazione.
